MCEDSV Advocacy 2.0 Training
March 13, 2019

Description: As advocates we operate on behalf of and alongside survivors in many spaces and systems within our communities. We are consistently challenged to maintain our relationships and presence within these spaces while honoring our primary role of service to domestic violence survivors on an individual basis. How do we remain survivor-centered while we work within other systems and also for our communities? During this full day training, we will examine the connections and barriers to advocacy in tandem with finding solutions to overcome some commonly identified but difficult to overcome challenges. This training will allow for participants to identify areas of advocacy for survivors of domestic violence/intimate partner violence beyond that of service provision.

AudienceAdvocates for ending domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, and anyone serving or interested in assisting survivors.

Presenters: Merkeb Yohannes, Lisa Winchell-Caldwell, and Phillip Barnhart – Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.
