Best Practices for DV Shelters - Rules and Regulations Roundtable

Description:

This roundtable opportunity will build off basic rules and regulations in shelters. The process will be informed by the discussions at the participant tables, topic-focused large group conversations, and best practices. The dialogue will be grounded in an intersectional and survivor centered lens. Participants can anticipate challenging questions regarding current norms and rules in their agencies as well as opportunities to share successful implementation of survivor centered and intersectional polices, rules, and regulations.

Objectives:

            1. Develop ways to center shelter rules and regulations on survivors and their many
                intersections.

2.Enhance the understanding of shelter best practices, where we were
and where we need to go.

3.Network with other directors and policy makers on ways to address communal
living concerns in a survivor centered and intersectional way.

Audience:
This gathering is for Executive Directors and policy makers within the shelter and organization with a maximum of two representatives per agency. This is an advanced decision making and organizational culture conversation that will require open and honest discussion with a mind toward survivor centered policies, positive change, and future oriented thinking.
